Publications: Websites

Scriptoria’s expertise in development, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the sciences means that we produce many sustainable development, climate, health and CSR focused websites each year. All our sites can be updated through easy-to-use content management systems, so that the client’s own team can easily change text, add pictures and post documents.

The ClimaEast website

ClimaEast is a EUR 18 million European Union-funded project helping Eastern Neighbourhood Partnership Countries and Russia to tackle climate change through mitigation and adaptation.

Scriptoria planned, designed and built the ClimaEast website, producing a platform that is both interactive and easy to navigate. The site is available in both English and Russian.

Johnson & Johnson CSR website

Johnson & Johnson’s Corporate Citizenship Trust asked Scriptoria to write and advise on the design of its new website while we were writing their Annual Report. The Trust demands the highest standards from their suppliers to complement the rigorous goals they set for themselves in their charitable work.

As well as commenting on the design of the site, our team worked closely with the J&J Trust’s staff to write the site’s content to a very tight deadline. This included interviewing partners and board members all over the world to ensure that their voices were heard.

MedCity website

MedCity is a major UK initiative by the Mayor of London and key players in the UK health sector. Its aim is to position London and the greater south east of England as a world leading, interconnected region for life science research, development, manufacturing and commercialisation.

Scriptoria worked with MedCity to help them produce their website. Work focused on writing a large number of case studies for use in the campaign and on its website. This involved producing easy-to-read studies that showed impact, based on complex medical research reports and interviews with the teams who did the research.

Every Drop Matters website

Every Drop Matters (EDM) is a partnership between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Coca-Cola that’s working to improve water supplies and sanitation, and to promote responsible water resource management across Europe and Asia.

EDM brought Scriptoria in to write new text for its website and showcase the programme. This resulted in us working very closely with both Coca-Cola and UNDP to promote and explain the innovative community-based projects being run. We also added a carousel of rotating photos to the homepage and updated the interactive map.

“The website is really looking good now.” (Director of Water Stewardship, Coca-Cola)

PACA website

The Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa (PACA) is a collaboration working to protect crops, livestock and people from the effects of aflatoxins. Produced by moulds growing on crops like maize and groundnuts, aflatoxins have an impact on millions across Africa, affecting people’s health as well as income and export earning opportunities.

Scriptoria designed, wrote and built an easy-to-navigate fast-loading website for PACA. The site is available in a low-bandwidth version, as well as in a version that displays all images and video, suitable for areas with higher broadband speeds.

GFAR website

The Global Forum for Agricultural Research (GFAR) is an FAO based platform which works to bring together all the major players in agricultural research and innovation to address key global needs. This wide mandate can be difficult to explain, so the Global Forum asked Scriptoria to produce a striking website that would communicate the wide range of issues and work that the Forum deals with.

International Year of Forests website

To help raise public awareness of agroforestry in the run-up to the UN’s COP17 climate conference, Scriptoria designed, wrote and built a website targeted at journalists, policy-makers and those interested in the basic science of agroforestry.

With partners such as CABI and the world-famous Kew Gardens in London, the site received a lot of attention and was the centre of a global campaign for the year prior to the COP17 conference.

BusyTrees – agroforestry awareness website

The BusyTrees site was produced as part of a campaign to build awareness of agroforestry among young western audiences – ranging from mid-teens to mid-twenties, as these are the policy-makers and scientists of tomorrow.

The high energy site garnered a lot of interest, using custom-made widgets, animations, video and cartoons to explain how agroforestry relates to the everyday lives of people in the west.

CAADP website

The Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) is working to help African countries reach a higher level of economic growth through agriculture-led development.

We developed the entire structure of CAADP’s site and wrote much of the original website’s content. We also built an online library (providing the first complete collection of CAADP’s work), and produced a French version. The site has both high and low bandwidth viewing options.

SPARC website

The State Partnership for Accountability, Responsiveness and Capability (SPARC), is a £60 million DFID UK-funded Programme working to improve governance in Nigeria.

We’re very proud of the SPARC website. Not only did we develop the concept, and then plan, write and build the site, we even trained some of the photographers who took the pictures on it. The site has both high and low bandwidth options to take account of internet speeds in Nigeria.

“The website is exceptional – thank you. We’re very pleased with the results of all your hard work.” (Head of Communications, SPARC)

KMCC HIV/AIDS communications website

Uganda’s HIV/AIDS Knowledge Management and Communications Capacity (KMCC) programme is a core component of the HIV prevention strategy being funded in Uganda by the UK. Its overarching mission is to help to improve the communication of knowledge in order to bring about a stronger response to HIV/AIDS in Uganda.

Before we wrote this site for them, Scriptoria worked with the KMCC team to develop the concept and to source photos to show off the work involved. Now we maintain and regularly update the site as part of our ongoing work with KMCC.

IWMI annual report website

Scriptoria designed and built the International Water Management Institute’s (IWMI) annual report website in 2006 to complement that year’s annual report – which Scriptoria also produced.

The website and annual report were both praised for the modern design and innovative thinking, mixing easy-to-read accounts of the Institute’s work with video and audio interviews with key staff and partners. IWMI is a major international research centre focused on water and climate related research.
