Johnson & Johnson Corporate Citizenship Annual Report (2012)

The multi-million pound Johnson & Johnson Corporate Citizenship Trust called upon Scriptoria to write both its 2011 Annual Report and the text for its new website because it needed a team that understood the complex issues underlying the work the Trust does.

Scriptoria’s task was to showcase the work of the Trust and its partners in a way that was inspiring and readable, without sacrificing transparency or accuracy. Rising to the challenge, our expert writers distilled large volumes of information to give readers a vivid window into the Trust’s work around the world.

ICARDA Annual Reports
(2002–present)

The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) is a multi-million dollar crop research organisation focused on dry areas. ICARDA’s work covers everything from climate adaptation and water resources management, to accelerated breeding and variety selection.

Scriptoria has been writing ICARDA’s Annual Reports since 2002, and since 2008 we’ve designed and laid out many of them as well. They rely on our experts to quickly translate highly technical source material in order to showcase the Center’s impacts to donors and other key audiences. Scriptoria created ICARDA’s first online Annual Report for 2015.

“We are very pleased with the work. I have no hesitation in recommending Scriptoria as a company which produces high quality, highly expert materials quickly, accurately, and on time.” (Head of Communications, ICARDA)

The Commonwealth Secretariat is the principal intergovernmental agency of the Commonwealth, providing guidance on policy making, technical assistance and advisory services to Commonwealth member countries.

The Commonwealth Secretariat called on Scriptoria’s expertise to write the Biennial Report of the Commonwealth Secretary-General in what was a significant year for the organisation – its 50th anniversary. This complex writing project involved collating and summarising information on the organisation’s wealth of work in areas such as democracy, human rights, gender and youth. It also documented an important period of transformation for the Commonwealth Secretariat, covering the first two years of implementing its new strategic plan.

CGIAR Research Program on Dryland Systems Annual Reports (2014–present)

The CGIAR Research Program on Dryland Systems is a $46 million global agricultural research partnership created to realise the potential of dryland communities. Its aim is to improve the lives of 1.6 billion rural people by addressing the challenges faced by farmers, such as infertile land, scarce water, drought and limited access to new technology.

Scriptoria collaborated closely with Dryland Systems to produce both its 2014 and 2015 Annual Reports. We were involved in the production of the reports from start to finish, from the writing and editing, to the design, layout and creation of infographics to showcase the impact of the Program. The 2015 report was also summarised to form a dynamic online version.

ICUC Annual Report (2006)

The International Centre for Underutilised Crops (ICUC), a non-profit scientific research institute, coordinated and supported research to increase the yields and use of valuable but underused crops. It was incorporated into the ‘Crops for the Future’ programme in 2009.

ICUC asked us for something ‘modern’ and ‘easy to read’. Based on this, our designers produced a very clean, white format while our writers produced 16 pages of punchy text based around the work ICUC was doing to champion underutilised crops.

“The service is of excellent quality and has a personal touch.” (Director, ICUC)

ICDDR,B Annual Report (2005)

Based in Bangladesh and supported by 55 donor countries, the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B) plays a key role in tackling health problems in the developing world. Examples range from improving neonatal survival to addressing a range of HIV/AIDS-related issues.

Scriptoria was asked to help the Centre produce a new kind of annual report as a template for the future. Shorter, easier for donors to follow, and with more emphasis on impact and less on technical processes, the new style report was a big hit with the Centre.
